Foundry also acts as principal in special situations, particularly with regard to buying significant minority stakes in small and mid-cap European companies.
EQUITY
Foundry provides owners
of large and generally less liquid holdings the ability
to sell position discreetly, away from its home market
and the existing shareholder base. Foundry's sell-side
clients tend to be family owners, corporate treasury shares,
hedge funds and institutions. Foundry's buy-side clients
mostly are portfolio managers and owners of large, discretionary
investment funds.
DEBT
Foundry focuses on opportunities
for investment funds positioned on distressed or mezzanine
debt. These investors are a tremendous solution, although
little understood in Europe, for financing complicated
debt transactions in a short timeframe. Sellers tend to
be companies looking to repurchase their existing
debt at a discount, lenders looking to sell positions,
or companies undergoing a restructuring and in need of
capital. Special situation equity opportunities are
often appropriate for Foundry's debt buyers as well.
PRINCIPAL INVESTMENT
Foundry acts as principal
as opposed to agent in opportunities to buy significant minority stakes
in European companies undergoing transition and restructuring.
In this activity the firm looks to act constructively with management
and the other shareholders in taking the necessary steps to maximize
shareholder value. Foundry's investments can consist of buying out an
existing shareholder, providing new equity or debt capital, or a combination of both.

find and complete appropriate transactions. They are the
lifeblood of our business and we are always interested
